SMYC Racing Team

The little Optimist took me all over the Netherlands and some of Europe to compete in regatta’s. I liked this so much that sailing became my passion and I spend almost all of my time next to school sailing. After the Optimist I moved on to the Splash class where I joined the Dutch Top & Talent Team. At this time I really started to improve my skills and knowledge as a sailor and also wanted to share that knowledge with the younger members of my club, so next to sailing myself I started coaching our Optimist team and later on our Splash team. In 2016 I became World Champion in the Splash class and moved on the the Yngling class, a 3 person boat. Sailing in a Team was a new experience for me where again my love for sailing grew and now not only my but our skills improved, winning the World Championships in 2018. 

I joined the Sint Maarten Yacht Club team in 2021, and I am very proud of what our Sint Maarten sailors accomplished so far. My goal is to get them to become the next generation of sailors competing internationally representing Sint Maarten.

Apart from coaching the SMYC sailors, I still keep up with my own sailing skills sailing the very exciting Diam 24 in the keelboat/multihull regattas.
