Sint Maarten Yacht Club Racing Team
A motivated group of 6 Optimist Sailors and 6 ILCA (Laser) Sailors are forming the SMYC – Racing Team.
The sailors train more and visit local, national and international events.

ILCA 4 & 6
6 ILCA (International Laser Class Association) sailors, in ILCA 4 and 6 (what used to be Laser 4.7 and Laser Radial) are training hard for participation in local, national and international regatta’s.
For the 2023-2024 Racing Season, the following races are planned:
- SMYC Soons Series in September and October.
- Caribbean Dinghy Championship in Martinique, in October.
- SMYC Aberson Series in November and December.
- SMYC Multiclass Regatta in January.
- Schoelcher week in February, in Martinique.
- SMYC Hoedemaker Series in February and March
- SMYC Hope Ross Series in April and May
- Mini Bucket in St. Barths in May
- SMYC Dinghy National Championship in June.
- Multiple races throughout the year in St. Barths.
Optimist
6 Optimist sailors, in ILCA 4 and 6 are training hard for participation in local, national and international regatta’s.

Our Coach
Both Racing Teams are trained and coached by three time world champion (in Yngling and Splash) sailor Sam Peeks.
Sam joined the SMYC team in February 2021 and is the driving force behind the Sint Maarten Yacht Club Racing Team.
