The Sint Maarten Yacht Club is hosting it’s annual raffle on April 6, 2024. From 5 – 8 PM, at the Sint Maarten Yacht Club, to raise funds for our youth sailing program!
Tickets can be purchased at the SMYC office from 9 – 5.30 PM Monday – Saturday.
$5 per ticket

The Silent Auction will open on Tuesday April 2nd. And will close on Saturday April 6th, 7 PM.
ITEM 1:
Luxury Dinner for Four on the Terrace at Chez Burzon in Belair
Your dinner will start with bubbly and blini of the day, upon arrival at 6:30.
Then we will move on to a delightful first course made from the freshest ingredients available in SXM markets that day. Possibly a Tuna Tartar, or a chilled shrimp and cucumber soup. We will serve a wine paired with the eventual choice.
Next will be an indescribable main from a recipe of the House of Rothchild in France. Poached Scottish Salmon (or local Mahi if Scottish Salmon is not available) in a Bois Bourdon Sauce with Broccoli Couscous and a Confit of Cherry Tomatoes. This dish will have its own wine pairing.
Next will be a plate of delicious French, Dutch, and possibly Vermont-made cheeses accompanied by a fresh baguette or a special cracker. The cheeses will be served with your choice of an after-dinner wine or liquor.
Dessert is likely to be some fresh fruit alongside a taste of something frozen, and a Burzon house special chocolate biscotti, served with cappuccino, espresso, or tea to bring you down and make you ready for your drive home.
(One comment…. the Poached Fish main has received raves from gourmet diners every time we serve it; and all who ask will receive an emailed version of the recipe).

Also, enjoy Grandfather Mountain, skiing, snowboarding, all within minutes of the cottage. Linville Land Harbor community, where the cottage is located, has a golf course, pool, pickle ball court, tennis court, lake for fishing, swimming and kayaking. The Linville River runs through the community and you can actually view the speckled trout from the bridge just across the street from the house. Larry has been painting since 1968. He attended the Ontario College of Art and has had several careers in the arts, display work, set design, interior design and fine art.
His work can be seen in three galleries around the world; Roussillon en-Provence, France, Ontario Canada at the Gallery on the Lake, and St. Martin, FWI at the Silk Cottonwood Gallery in Friar’s Bay run by Ruby Bute. His artwork is hung in homes all over the world.
Larry splits his time between all three countries so he can follow the best weather and also visit his friends in all the places. He is also an interior designer & teaches art in all three countries.

Hand Blown Glass Bowl
This is a hand blown bowl made by a yacht club member Rob Wolf. it is 8 inches across. He hopes you enjoy using it or just enjoy it as a piece of original art.
This bowl was hand crafted in “hot glass” using the traditions of the ancient arts of Murano glassblowers. A white frit overlaid by green was applied onto a fresh gather of glass. After that a decorative pattern was applied by dipping into an “optic” mold twice (creating a ribbed affect and twisting the design). It is known by many names but can be referred to as a “double twister fritter” pattern. It was finished using an ancient Italian technique called Fazzoletto, an ancient technique which applies a “handkerchief” effect to the rim of the piece. All along the process, temperatures of close to 2000 degrees Fahrenheit were maintained to ensure the glass was kept in a workable state.
