Sint Maarten Yacht Club (SMYC) — It is with immense pride and gratitude that we thank those who came out for SMYC’s Raffle & Silent Auction, and to the local businesses and community members who donated prizes.
Held on Saturday, April 25 on the club’s dock, the event started at 4:30 and wrapped up around 8:00 pm after a beautiful Caribbean sunset. Over 100 raffle prizes and silent auction items were given out and bid on, which made the night very special for all involved.
SMYC’s junior sailors were diligent in selling raffle tickets and, when combined with the proceeds from the silent auction, a total of $14,500 was raised to support the club’s youth sailing and Sailiability programs. Donated prizes from our partners included sailing excursions, a round trip ticket on Winair, food vouchers to local restaurants, luxury staycations, cooking classes, and much more.
Perhaps the best part of the evening was that the party was hosted right on the SMYC docks, where the club’s junior sailors had just finished their Saturday classes and racing practice. A tent was generously donated by Artemia and beer, wine, soda, and light snacks from Prime were provided for attendees. The raffle prizes were given out by SMYC sailing coaches who were assisted by some of the young sailors.
“Overall, we are thrilled with how the raffle and silent auction turned out. It was great to see so many of our club members and supporters in attendance to help with such a great cause,” remarked club manager Saskia Revelman. “We look forward to making the event even bigger and better next year!”
Once again, we would like to give a sincere thank you to those who donated, volunteered, and provided prizes for this year’s event. It’s truly not possible to do this without the support of so many people.
