On Saturday, May 18th, the annual Karibuni Grand Prix set sail under perfect conditions, offering a day of exhilarating races and culminating in an evening of fine dining and celebration. Starting in the azure waters of Simpson Bay, sailors navigated their way to the stunning shores of Orient Bay, Saint Martin, in a competition that highlighted both skill and sportsmanship.
The event featured 22 participants, in 7 different teams, all competing in the sleek Diam 24 boats, known for their speed and agility. The competition was fierce, with each crew aiming for precision and speed over the course of four challenging races. The picturesque route and perfect sailing conditions set the stage for a memorable day on the water.
The day’s races were marked by high-speed action and strategic maneuvers. However, the most dramatic moment came during the final race in Orient Bay, where the Diam 24 boat ‘Airnest’ experienced a catastrophic mast failure. Despite this unfortunate incident, the spirit of the competition remained undeterred, with all teams showing resilience and camaraderie.

The crew of the boat Karibuni demonstrated exceptional skill and teamwork, securing their first-place finish with the lowest point tally. The competition was tight, with Cry Baby close behind, and Look Up rounding out the top three with a strong performance.
