Sailing enthusiasts were treated to a perfect day on the water at the Soons Day 2 race,
of the Grant Thornton Dinghy Season Championship, held on Saturday, September
28th, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. With clear skies and ideal wind conditions, the race
turned into a thrilling spectacle of speed, skill, and sportsmanship, drawing sailors and
fans alike for an unforgettable morning of racing.

“The competition kicked off in high gear as sailors battled it out in five fiercely contested
fleets, each race pushing the limits of precision and endurance.”, said race officer, Elja
van der Horst . In the ILCA Fleet, Rio Stomp became 1st, leaving Clement Le Norman
in 2nd place and Emilien Le Norman to claim 3rd respectively.

The younger sailors in the Optimist Fleet delivered their own share of excitement.
Nathan Sheppard led the charge with a commanding 1st place, while Oskar Jarret
Versteegden secured 2nd place and Harper Treadwell fought hard to secure 3rd place.
In Opti Green Fleet, it was a morning of pride as Achille Le Norman sailed to victory,
followed by Axel vanden Eynde in 2nd place and Adam Gumbs in 3rd place. Each sailor
demonstrated not only talent but true determination in every tack and jibe.
Family Dynamics and Teamwork Shine

Team dynamics took center stage in the Quest Fleet, where siblings and friends
banded together to tackle the challenging course. The duo of Joris and Louisa vanden
Eynde were unstoppable, taking 1st place, while Harrison Radican captured 2nd, and
the pair of Francois and Luc Nel secured 3rd with tactical precision.
The Zest Fleet saw a spectacular solo performance from Misha, who dominated the
race to claim 1st place, with Ayla Bus on the 2nd place and the dynamic duo of Hunter
and Nick following closely to finish 3rd.

Soons Day series was a resounding success, and we look forward to more thrilling
events in the future.
