
June 30, 2025 – Simpson Bay, Sint Maarten — The Sint Maarten Yacht Club (SMYC) has concluded its 2024-2025 Keelboat Season Championship, which was once again sponsored by Grant Thornton. Rounding out the list of three fleets competing was CSA 1, Diam 24, and Sun Fast 20s.
Race Day 1 was unfortunately cancelled due to weather conditions.
On Sunday, November 24, Race Day 2 of the series took place in great weather, with impressive performances, and exciting competition. Taking the top spot in each class was Team Island Water World, skippered by Frits Bus in CSA 1; Buzz Race Team skippered by Ted Reshetiloff in the Diam 24; and Green Mamba skippered by Garth Steyn in the Sun Fast 20.

Next up was the Heineken Regatta Warm Up, which took place on Sunday, March 2, and saw 11 teams come out for racing, again in three classes. This time it was Budget Marine Rodeo skippered by Jolyon Ferron taking the top spot in CSA 1; ZeeBest skippered by Benoit Champanhac in the Diam 24; and Green Mamba skippered by Garth Steyn in the Sun Fast 20.
Race Day 3 of the Championship was sailed on Sunday, May 25, in a solid 15-20 knots of breeze on Simpson Bay. Two fleets came out for racing and it was Team Island Water World skippered by Frits Bus that took the win in CSA 1. For the Sun Fast 20s, Budget Marine skippered by Robbie Ferron claimed the top spot.

In the overall season standings, Team Island Water World won the CSA 1, with Team Budget Marine in second, and More Zessin’ in third.
In the Diam 24 fleet, Airnest took first place, followed by ZeeBest in second and Buzz Race Team in third.
The Sun Fast 20 fleet was won by Green Mamba, followed by Miss Tyknight in second, and Team Budget Marine in third.
