Hereby a story from our recent Brown Pelican Awards best male athlete under 13 winner Nathan Sheppard from his trip with the SMYC Racing team to Martinique competing in the Caribbean Dinghy Championships:
In October we competed in the Caribbean Dingy Championship (CDC) in Martinique.
Our Sint Maarten racing team stayed in Martinique for one week: we practiced for three days and competed in the championship for three days. We also got to explore Martinique a little bit which was beautiful.
We experienced challenging conditions due to extremely light wind and lots of rain over the regatta but we have learnt so much!
On the first day I came 2nd overall, on the second day I fell back into 4th place, and on the third day I caught up and I came 3rd overall. I am so happy to be coming home with a trophy and a podium place!
