The final keelboat race of the season took place on June 11th, marking the end of the 2023-2024 Keelboat Racing Season sponsored by Grant Thornton. The race saw three competitive teams—Team Solstice, Team Island Water World, and Team Budget Marine—compete in the CSA 1 Class under nice conditions with winds around 15 knots.

The teams sailed three races. Unfortunately, Team Island Water World was unable to finish the second race due to technical issues. Team Budget Marine claimed the first place after all three races, with Team Solstice in second place and Team IWW in third.

Race leader Elja van der Horst, with volunteer race committee Sam Peeks, looks back on a nice last race day, “The last keelboat race was a success. Despite only two teams finishing all races, the enthusiasm was great. Thank you to all the volunteers and racers for an exciting season.”

In the overall season standings, Team Island Water World won the CSA 1 Class, with Team Budget Marine in second and Team Solstice in third. In the Diam 24 fleet, Buzz Race Team took first place, followed by Marlin and Cry Baby in third.

Race day 4 and the overall prizegiving were held at the SMYC Bar and Restaurant. Since not all winning teams were present, their trophies are still available for pickup at the SMYC.

The Sint Maarten Yacht Club thanks Grant Thornton for sponsoring this exciting keelboat season.
