The second day of the Hope Ross Series, sponsored by Grant Thornton started this Saturday November 16th on a calm note, with minimal wind challenging the competitors. Fortunately, the winds picked up as the morning progressed, allowing for some exhilarating races across all fleets.

Day 2 saw the addition of new competitors, injecting fresh energy into the event and showcasing the growing passion for sailing in our community. Among the day’s highlights was an impressive performance by Rio Stomp, who sailed in a Laser. Despite facing a significant setback when his mast broke during the first race, Stomp demonstrated extraordinary resilience. He managed to repair his equipment just in time for the second race and delivered a stellar performance, winning every segment of the race.

“It’s incredible to witness the determination and talent of these young sailors,” says Elja van der Horst – Race Officer. “Stomp’s comeback today is a perfect example of the spirit of this regatta — overcoming challenges and excelling under pressure.”

Another heartwarming moment was seeing newcomers, like Juan Espitia, take to the water. Though lacking extensive racing experience, these young participants showed great enthusiasm and promise, further underscoring the regatta’s role in nurturing the next generation of sailors.
