The Caribbean Multihull Challenge in February 2023 broke new ground in so many ways. The introduction of the CMC Cruising Rally, the introduction of the 52 Mile Around Saba Dash (sponsored by the St Maarten Tourist Bureau) for Racers, and the multiple Cruising Rally entries of six gorgeous catamarans from a single builder – Balance Catamarans. Also, the first Raffle where new sponsor Lifeline Batteries donated two GPL-31 XT AGM Deep-Cycle 12 volt batteries worth $529.99 each to two lucky skippers.
Each winner – Ben Eastwood of Sage; a Balance 442, and Paul Britton of Rodeless; a Balance 482 decided to donate their winnings to local SXM organizations to use for their own fund-raising. Ben donated his to the St Maarten Yacht Club to benefit their Youth Sailing Program; and Paul chose to donate his to SXM PAWS; the organization that successfully finds forever homes for island dogs.
